Tommy Girl Advertisement

In Monday’s class Professor Tim's argued that the Tommy Girl Perfume advertisement depicts racism and is offensive to not only to the African race but to Americans in general. I had heard of Tommy Hilfiger being a racist, so the fact that the young woman was African American stood out to me. The more we analyzed the advertisement the more I found it offensive. The beautiful black girl is sitting on a stool in a dinner; a place where Africans were not aloud centuries ago. Just below her crotch the Tommy emblem is placed, and reads; The Declaration of Independence. Outside the window of the diner is the American Flag. Just like Tim said, “Nothing was accidentally placed” With that said, this ad was undeniably offensive and racist!
