Since I was unable to create my yesterday, this is what i had to say...

When i first took a glance at the Tommy Girl ad i had no idea the Maxwell was going to take the conversation and tie the add with the civil rights movement and the oppression African Americans. I only thought the point of the add was to appeal to a larger audience and portray what you can have; sex appeal, if you buy the perfume. But after hearing what Maxwell had to say and analyzing the add peace by peace i say that i agree with Maxwell. The way i see the add now, and it is kind of an extremest view even though i do find it to be racist, is that tommy is saying that with out him she will not be able to follow the American dream (independence) and be safe from suffering what her predecessors had to go through... and i also say that the add is also portraying the fact that Tommy might think the girl at the dinner is easy and that he is only offering her the American dream to get in her pants... shown be her covering her crotch.

I found the exercise that we did outside to be very interesting because i fascinating to know the opinion of my generation on serious topics like the ones we went over today so that i can compare my opinion to the rest. the question that i found most interesting was whether we believed tv was bad for people or not, and what i say is that it can be both good and bad depending on what you watch because there are some shows that teach very insightful things about life, and some even educate to know what is around you and be able to take that knowledge to help you grow as a person.
