Torture

During the debate, I was originally on the side FOR torture, so arguing against it was a bit challenging. I think that any normal person would naturally be against torture, but in this case and after reading Levin's essay, I chose to support it becauseI am all for protecting humanity. Torture as we see depicted in films is quite negative; innocent people are forced to endure pain that is inflicted to them by someone who has no compassion or interest for an individual. That type of torture is demonic and evil. However, torturing someone for the sake of saving millions of lives is more than acceptable. A person who wants to deliberately kill millions of people obviously will find no remorse in their actions. Instead, they would view that act as an accomplishment...which is sickening. Torturing someone is certainly inhumane and unethical, but mass murder is far more disturbing.
