The Colbert Report's not the funniest show around, but it is damn good satire! Stephen Colbert's great at keeping up that crazy persona he's cooked up. That comment about flipping the giant highway on its side was pretty cute...

Interesting video by Colbert. I thought it was kind of real for a moment while watching the video, jokes are good.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are brilliant at pointing out the ridiculous, hypocritical, and stupid things our government says or does. Watching them, it's easy to forget (or I guess ignore) the consequences of having such a hilarious government...

I kind of remember reading about NAFTA in a race and ethnic relations class I took last year - it created a free-trade region that extends from Canada to Mexico. NAFTA made trade “free” by relaxing/removing any regulations (tariffs, environmental protection, workers’ rights) that might limit national, international, or private profit. It opened Mexico’s markets, made public institutions private, and took away all regulations protecting Mexican laborers. It destroyed thousands of agricultural jobs in Mexico because farmers couldn’t compete with the low prices Americans benefiting from free trade could afford. The farmers were forced to work in maquiladoras at the border, and were abused and exploited for cheap labor…and then came Operation Gatekeeper. So much for “free” trade.
